Aah, this is starting to become a habit. A habit which as a poor student I should really get out of, but as a bookworm, one that I’m enjoying quite a bit!
This mini book haul consists of two books and a pop figure which is considered bookish both because it is a literary character and because the moment I finish this post, she will be finding a new home on my bookshelf along my other pop figures!
The first book I got was Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt. I’m not going to lie, everything I know about this novel I found out when I picked it up in the shop and read the back! Basically, as I mentioned yesterday, I just finished Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and I didn’t have another book to read so I just went to the bookshop and saw what caught my fancy. This book appealed for a couple of reasons. First, it’s very pretty!! Secondly, it sounds interesting and emotional, which for me is a winning combination. The blurb also reminds me a little of Boys Don’t Cry by Mallory Blackman which is one of my favourite books ever, so it had that going for it too!
Now the second book I really wasn’t planning on buying or reading right now and it is Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. It might sound odd that I wasn’t planning on buying it yet, but I was sort of thinking of maybe waiting for the hype to die down a little and then picking it up. But, when I got to the bookshop today it was half price and I’m sorry, I just could not resist. So, I will probably be reading that when I have finished Orbiting Jupiter. Cross fingers it’s more of a Fault in Our Stars than Papertowns (for me anyway!).
Last item of the mini book haul is my Hermione from Prisoner of Azkaban pop figure. I have wanted a Hermione pop figure for a while and when I saw this edition the other day I knew I had to have her. So today, with birthday money in hand (and crossed fingers, hoping she was still there!) I went and got her. When I pulled her out of the box I realised that she’s even cuter than I thought as she’s wearing her little time turner. She now joins my small but growing collection of pop figures, which at the moment happens to consist of three fictional women who inspire me, namely the lovely Belle (in her blue pauper dress), Mulan and now Hermione!
So there we have it, another mini book haul!
What books have you been buying recently? Have you read Orbiting Jupiter and/or Turtles All the Way Down and are they any good? Which is the latest pop figure you’ve added to your collection and which one do you desperately want that you don’t have yet?
As always, happy reading!
