Mulan Book Tag

Hi guys! Guess what? Today I’m here with a post that is not a review, I know, amazing! Anyway, as you might know I’ve been doing a few reviews lately (or more accurately, not doing much of anything else!) because I have a lot going on so I’m trying to keep things simple on the blogging side. I was very excited, then, to get tagged in the Mulan book tag by the fabulous Rebecca over at Bookishly Rebecca (formerly My Life as a Sports Fangirl). Not only is a tag a nice, fun thing to do (and I feel like I haven’t done one in ages) but this one combines two of my favourite things, books and Disney films, of which Mulan is one of my favourites!!

The Rules

  • Mention the creator (Kirsty and the Cat Read)
  • Thank/mention the person who tagged you
  • Match books or characters to the questions below
  • tag as many people as you like

Reflection: “When will my reflection show who I am inside?” – an inaccurate book cover that doesn’t reflect what the book is about

Ok so I can’t think of a book cover specifically mainly because a lot of the books I own either have pretty representative covers, are purely aesthetic or are literally just the title so I’ve decided to go for 13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough because the phrase that forms part of the title (I was dead for 13 minutes now I want to know why) is pretty misleading. No spoilers here but you can check out my review if you want to know why!

Mushu: A character with a lot to prove

I’m going to steal Rebecca’s answer for this one and go for Diana Prince from Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo who definitely proves her worth over the course of this novel!

“I’ll make a man out of you”: A character who develops the most or a book with some kick-ass training scenes

Not quite training scenes but Scarlet by Marissa Meyer has a few bare knuckle boxing scenes so I’m going to take some artistic licence and pick that!

“A girl worth fighting for”: A ship you will defend until your last breath

I recently went to watch Love, Simon in the cinema (amazing, go watch it!) and so because of the film, and because I have spoken about some of my more hardcore OTP’s a lot on this blog, I thought I might go for Blue and Simon this time because they are just so cute!

Huns: A book/character that gives you the creeps

I have only just started reading Renegades by Marissa Meyer but so far The Puppeteer, Winston Pratt is freaking me out. He’s giving me mega Heath Ledger as The Joker vibes.

Mulan: Your favourite bad-ass female protagonist

I did the Fight Like a YA Girl tag a while ago and mentioned loads of my favourites so I thought here I might pick a newer choice who I’ve fallen in love with since writing that post, and that is Cinder from the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I have so far only read Cinder and Scarlet but Cinder is amazing and unquestionably bad-ass!

I Tag:

Norees @NoReadsTooGreat

Sydney @FireAndRainBooks

Katie @NeverNotReading

So there we have it, my take on the Mulan book tag! I found pretty fun to think about these categories in terms of some of my more recent reads! What would your answers be to these categories? Who is your favourite kick-ass female protagonist? Have you seen Love, Simon yet!?

As always, happy reading!
