The Library Lover’s Book Tag

Hello! Today I’m coming at you with another tag…I’m literally the anecdote about buses where I don’t do a tag for ages and then I do two at once! Anyway, I’m really excited about this one because as a result of my recent great book unhaul, I am trying to use my local library more so it felt very fitting when Katie over at Never Not Reading tagged me for this one! Thank you!! Katie is fabulous so make sure to go and check her out if you haven’t already!

How often do you visit your local library?

At the moment it’s not very scheduled because once I got home for the holidays I went a couple of times but then we went on holiday for a couple of weeks so I didn’t go then and I have been once in the couple of weeks we have been back home. Hopefully once term starts I can get more a general structure in my life though so hopefully I will be going every few weeks or so.

Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you can read or are you someone who checks out the exact amount of books you intend to read before they are due?

I normally check out the amount of books I intend/expect to read before they are due which is normally around three or four but it can be difficult because I often struggle with my mood reading so I might find myself picking a book up off my own shelf even if I have a library book out that I haven’t read yet, so that I am know I am giving the library book a fair go of it when I do get around to it.

How old were you when you got your first library card?

Confession. I do not remember a time in my life when I haven’t had a library card. My Mam and Dad were always really eager to get us reading so since I was tiny we walked up to the library and checked out children’t books! I think one of the most frustrating periods in my life was when I was about 15 and I wanted to start checking out adult fiction but you have to have an adult card which you get when you’re 18 so I couldn’t do it on my own card. Ironically, I am now back to checking out YA which is classified as teen fiction in my library!

Do you go to your library for a particular book or do you check out anything that piques your interest?

I absolutely love my little local library but good luck to you if you are going there for a specific book because the library will not have it. I normally just browse the teen section trying to spot any young adult I can and then I’ll normally have a walk around the adult fiction section and I’ll sometimes stray into the social issues section as well because I find that really interesting. Luckily, though, my library will order books in for you if you request them be that from another neighbouring library or sometimes, if you are lucky, they will buy them in just for you and I always love the trip to the library after the phone call to let you know the book you ordered as arrived!

Do you only check out books or do you also get DVDs, audiobooks, etc.?

When me and my sisters were younger we used to get a few DVD’s from the library because we are actually old enough to have lived without such easy access to films online using Netflix and Amazon Prime and whatever else is out there! These days, though, it tends to be mainly books!

From what section of the library do you check out most of your books?

That would be the teen/YA section.

What is your favourite part of using your local library?

As someone who wants to try living a more minimalist bookish life, the library is great because I get to read great books without then having to find space to keep them, and of course those books are free! Like when you think about it that is truly amazing! I also like the fact that when I use my local library I am supporting it and making sure that it stays up and running so that everyone else can keep using it too!

I Tag:

Flying Paperbacks

Beach Bookworm

Many Things Bookish

So there we have it, the library lover’s book tag! Do you use your local library? What are the best books you have ever gotten from the library? If you go looking for a book at your local library are you likely to drop on it or do you have to order it?

As always, happy reading!
